Grog Mercury Chrome Paint Now Available At Illadel.Ink
So the shiny new Grog Mercury Chrome Paint is now available at Illadel.Ink. Mercury Chrome, Hyper Chrome, Grog MCP, etc…so many names. Alot of customers have been fiending for this stuff since the first “leaked” teaser video clips popped up on Instagram & Tiktok. Man oh man I wish I had one of those corporate advertising budgets…I’d be sittin’ pretty right now instead of hustling my ass off every day & night. But back to the Mirror Chrome…
I figured it would have made its way to the USA far earlier than it actually did, being such a hot product. Every website in Europe that I tried to buy bulk from was either sold out of some or all of the products or just didn’t ship to the USA. Plus Grog is already everywhere and widely used by vandals, writers & artists worldwide. But scanning posts on different social media platforms from different European graff supply shops showed that it wasn’t going to be in the USA for quite some time, at least not until one of the two North American distributors picked it up, and then after that happens it still takes anywhere between a week to a month to hit the screens & shelves of the US-based retailers that buy from the North American distributors.
That was simply unacceptable. A hot product is a hot product and, regardless of who the manufacturer is, needs to be made available to customers waiting to spend their money on the newest/latest illest shit out. This is where I stepped in and, based off of the incurable mental illness that pushes me to spend large amounts of money on markers & ink coupled with the ADHD/OCD and coupled again with the customers who kept asking if I was going to get any, I decided to get some. At first, for about 2 weeks I had no luck. The sites I checked out were sold out of most of, if not all the Grog MCP refills, mops & markers. The handful that did respond to my e-mails flat out didn’t ship to the USA either, so I was fucked with a pineapple while my ADHD was going crazy. Now I must have it. The harder it is to acquire something, the more persistent & mental I become. So up late scheming one night, I thought “lemme holler at my boy ***** from ******** and see if he’ll set me up with an account, which he did. And that’s that.
Now I do not sell hardly any Grog products on my website, none besides the empty Grog Squeezers. This is because years ago when I first got into the “industry” I received an e-mail from someone at Grog threatening to sue me for using the word “buffproof” on one of my product labels. Now I was new to the business back then (2006), didn’t know anything on the business end and couldn’t give two fucks about copyrights or trademarks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m hardcore with the “originality” thing and having my own style/brand/etc. but goddamn, I thought the word “buffproof” belonged to the graffiti & hip-hop culture & not some corporate “graffiti ink” brand that uses lawyers to deter product packaging & design.
Anyway, since that night I said fuck them and that is why I refused to sell anything with a Grog labels outside of the empty mops that my customers end up filling with Illadel Ink anyway. But, like I posted on IG a while back when I added Krink products to the website, if I’m going to take this business seriously then I need to provide the requested products my customers- all very loyal to the Illadel brand- I have to give them what they want & put my bias & opinions to the side.
So long story short, the Grog Mercury Chrome Paint refills and squeeze mops are now available on Illadel.Ink. Me being a huge fan of silver & chrome, and more importantly making my own mirror chrome, I wanted to see what the competition has in store. It does deliver as promised. Let that be clear. The manufacturing aspect, that’s another argument for another time. I’m just glad this paint wasn’t a gimmick like alot of other products some of the bigger, worldwide brands push out. How it compares to the Illadel 24K Chrome Mirror Finish is up to the individual user.
The chrome is chromey as fuck. Mirror finish as fuck. Best used on a black or dark smooth surfaces for the best mirror-like effects. That is not something I thought of when I completed my mirror chrome almost 3 years ago. I forgot to investigate & research the mirror finish on different textures, surfaces, etc. Now that I know that there might be some tweaks in my recipe. But I do have to give it to these Grog cats…this is a great product that I’m glad I spent the money on.
Originally, I said “fuck this” when I figured I would have to pay the EU/UK price which is considerably higher than the USD wholesale price. But there is nobody I know of in the USA, no graff shops or storefronts, that I know at least, that is selling this stuff wholesale or retail. And me being a stubborn, hard-headed fuck, I said now I must have this shit on the website. Even if it doesn’t sell I must have it.
Sure I paid more per bottle plus the tariff tax, which is 10%, plus the international shipping cost, which should just say the word “rape” instead of an actual dollar amount, but in the end it’s worth it because the customers get what they wanted and Illadel Ink, the website, has some exclusive shit nobody else is carrying at the time outside of the Euro shops.
So for anybody wondering if this paint is worth the price, I can assure you it is. The products available right now on Illadel.Ink are the ones posted below: the 100ml refill, the mini 20mm, mini 10mm and mini 05mm squeeze mops. I do have the 8mm and 15mm cutter markers arriving next week though. The 2mm one was sold out and actually I don’t care because this type of chrome needs to be used with a wide nib so you can blast the sexy chrome mirror effect as it covers more of the surface. The skinny 2mm or 3mm lines wouldn’t really show it off the way it needs to be.
