Apple Files Patent For Turning Macbook Pro Into A Turntable

Apple has submitted a patent application outlining its concept of the MacBook Pro’s potential transformation into a DJ turntable.

The document describes how the laptop could detach and be converted into a controller, functioning as a “modular computing device.” Users would remove components like the keyboard and touchpad module when switching to DJ mode, with accompanying illustrations demonstrating this transformation. Motion sensors would enable the converted laptop to mix and scratch tracks.

The patent, while not explicitly stating its use as a DJ controller, strongly implies it.

In other Apple-related news, even as the company continues to innovate, some of its older products remain valuable collectibles.

Just last week, a first-generation 2001 Apple iPod fetched a record-breaking $29,000 in a sale. This particular iPod had spent over two decades on a shelf in Piano, Texas, preserved in its original Apple sleeve and store’s blue bag since it was given as a Christmas gift by a teenager’s parents.

It was initially purchased for $399 plus tax at the newly opened Apple store in Willowbrook Mall. According to the owner, Rob Petrozzo, he initially didn’t know what to do with the gift and paid little attention to it, so it ended up on a shelf, where it remained until its recent sale.

Notably, the iPod’s value has increased by a remarkable 73-fold in the 21 years since its original purchase, without accounting for inflation.
