Happy Birthday To The King Of Style
On this day in 1958, graffiti icon Jeff Brown, famously known as KASE2 (or CASE 2), was born in Harlem, New York. A trailblazer of the graffiti movement that emerged from the streets of the South Bronx, KASE 2 would have turned 64 today.
Dubbed the “King of Style,” KASE2 began his graffiti journey in the early 1970s, completing his first handball court piece in 1973. Despite losing an arm in a subway accident at the age of 10, he became a prolific artist, completing over 100 pieces on the NYC subway system before 1980.
His work and charisma earned him a spot in the iconic 1982 graffiti film Wild Style, alongside fellow legend DEZ, later known as DJ Kay Slay.
KASE passed away on August 15, 2011, from complications related to lung cancer. His groundbreaking contributions continue to inspire graffiti artists worldwide, cementing his legacy as a true pioneer and legend of the art form.
