New Rust-O Cans Unveiled At Secret Walls
Apparently there have been some new “Rust-O” cans unveiled by Persue at Secret Walls. And this can be either good or bad, depending on the valve system and color selection. But before we get to that….
New Rust-O cans…think about that for a minute. Not the ones that have the garden hose cap that you twist to go from thin to wide spray. I don’t know what the fuck they were thinking with those. Any damn way…
Normally nothing excites me anymore at this point. Violence on TV, watching criminals get away with bank robberies or huge heists, new markers from Japan or somewhere else outside of the USA, shit like that does the job, but pretty much everyday is boring as shit.
Then I came across this pic on Instagram and said “I’ll be gotdamn…”: NEW RUST-O CANS!! And they’re called “Rust-O”!!
Low and behold RustOleum fucked around and made, what appeared to be, a new can with the old vintage style bigface Scottie. Besides that the label says “Rust-O” instead of Rust-Oleum. Every writer I ever met calls it “Rust-O”, which is another nod in the direction that they might have come to their senses and made a range of aerosol specifically for writers.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough excitement for my nerdy-ass self, a homie on IG linked me to the @SecretWalls account showing @Persue1 showcase/demo the cans for none other than @RustoSprayPaint themselves.
Then I lost my shit. In true paint nerd fashion.
After that I had to scope the Home Depot website and see what the price is, what type of valve the can has and what the color selection looks like but, sure enough, they’re not posted on the website yet. FML.
All I got to see was a jerkoff-ass line of red text saying:
The product you are trying to view is not currently available.

Anyway, I came across some newly designed Rusto cans a while back that had me drooling (see post here) but it turned out it was just an artist mockup. Too bad because they looked vicious as hell.
Anyway, now that I know Rusto is dropping new acrylic-based cans I’ll be on the hunt until I know the full specs, color range, etc.
I’m guessing someone who calls the shots over there at RustOleum did some math & figured out they were losing shitloads of money from writers and artists that have been using the European brands for the last 25 years or better. I know that had to take a big chunk out of their profits even though alot of writers rack their shit (or claim to).
Back in the day Rusto & Krylon were the kings of color selection, back before they watered down the recipe and fucked the paint up.
Anyway, at least their making an effort now, or so it seems. The color selection will tell the tale my friends. And the valve system especially. But the label alone, I’m loving the label.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this whole situation, so check back whenever you can for updates until they officially drop these new cans.
Shoutout to my man at @TroutArtSupply for the heads-up on the nah-mean.
