Nike Dunk Low “Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories” Sold For $107,950
Sotheby’s auctioned off eight pairs of the “Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories” Nike Dunk Low sneakers, and the final prices far surpassed the pre-auction estimates. The highest bid was for a size 10 pair in the orange colorway, which sold for $107,950 USD, approximately 50 times greater than the original estimated price range of $2,000 – $4,000 USD.
The results showed that the orange colorway received higher bids than the blue version. Winning bids for the blue editions ranged from $25,400 USD for a size 5 to $82,550 USD for a size 11. The lowest winning bid for the orange version was $57,150 USD for a size 6 pair.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the Virgil Abloh Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Virgil Abloh Securities that will launch later this year. The foundation aims to support young people from diverse backgrounds in pursuing creative careers. In addition, the Virgil Abloh Foundation will donate half of its proceeds to other charities, such as the Art for Justice Fund, Innocence, and the Boys & Girls Club of America, all chosen by Futura.
