NYDP Police Steal 3G’s Worth Of Jay-Z’s Ace Of Spades Champagne
Several police officers in New York City have been charged with allegedly stealing approximately $3,000 worth of Jay-Z’s Ace of Spades champagne at a local festival.
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, Jonathan Gonzalez, 33, and Wojciech Czech, 44, are facing charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. These charges are related to the theft of Ace of Spades champagne bottles at the 2022 Electric Zoo Festival. Another officer, Warren Golden, has been charged with official misconduct in connection with the theft.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg expressed his disapproval of the officers’ actions, stating, “In addition to the alleged theft that occurred, none of the officers working at the event stepped up and stopped this activity. Public confidence in the criminal justice system depends on members of law enforcement acting with the utmost integrity while on duty and following the same rules that apply to everyone else.”
The NYPD, in a statement to Billboard, confirmed the arrests and suspensions of the two officers involved. They also mentioned their commitment to continuing the joint investigation with the Internal Affairs Bureau and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, pledging to take further disciplinary action as necessary.
Prosecutors revealed that all three officers were assigned to narcotics duty at the festival when they observed concertgoers leaving a VIP area after ordering multiple bottles of Ace of Spades champagne, which is co-owned by Jay-Z. Gonzalez and Czech allegedly took two bottles worth $2,900, while Golden was present nearby. Their actions were witnessed by two attendees who promptly notified security.
