Retna’s New Print “Even The Heart Skips A Beat”
Marquis Lewis, known by his artistic moniker RETNA, has collaborated with Print Them All to unveil a new one-color screen print titled “Even The Heart Skips A Beat.” Drawing on his distinctive and enigmatic signature script, the Los Angeles-based artist’s work is deeply influenced by a range of calligraphic traditions from around the globe, including ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, cuneiform, Hebrew, Arabic, and his own roots in graffiti.
RETNA’s mysterious yet unmistakable style has left its mark on walls worldwide. He initially gained attention by tagging over prominent high-fashion labels, eventually leading to collaborations with the very brands he once covered, such as Louis Vuitton and Chanel, among others, who sought to infuse their designs with his primal aesthetic.
“Even The Heart Skips A Beat” is a substantial print, measuring 43.30 x 28.84 inches, produced on Somerset Rad white velvet 330 gsm paper. It comes with a hefty price tag of $8,600 USD. Limited to an edition of 99, the artwork includes a hand-painted glitter effect applied by the artist himself, who has also signed and numbered each piece.
