Rustoleum Re-Design By Dave Orantes
I came across this Rusto re-design by graphic designer & graffiti artist Dave Orantes. I gotta say the can designs are fresh as hell. I still can not figure out why Rusto wants nothing to do with graffiti or selling their own range of cans specifically for graffiti but it’s obvious they don’t want no graff money. There is no other better-known brand of American spray paint that would be embraced and welcomed with open arms other than Rustoleum. As long as they filled the cans with the old 1970s-1980s formula.
These cans that Dave Orantes designed are pretty goddamn nice looking, that’s for sure. For more of his work check out daveorantes.com and if you wanna grab something really ill, check his online shop out and grab one of the baseball cards…they’re definitely tuff as hell.
“Rust-Oleum “Stops Rust” is the most trusted spray paint for graffiti writers, but its current label is much to be desired. The content is busy and the overall design is basic. Inspired by the minimalist and well designed European paint brands, I designed a minimalist, easily readable, and visually compelling label. I chose values of black to differentiate the three paint finishes Rusto provides (matte, semi-gloss, gloss); something the current design does not do.”
