The Corner Episode 3
The Corner Episode 3. Only three EP’s left. This show was ahead of its time in my opinion. Similar to The Wire, the realism of the street scenes where these youngins are hustling, scheming, fighting, etc. are believable as hell. The writers got everything right on this show as they did with The Wire. The slang words, the accents, everything in every scene of every episode is on point. And the good thing about this show and shows similar is they aren’t like “Law & Order” where you already know what’s gonna play out after the first 5 minutes of the show. 3 episodes left after this one, all fire.
The gist of episode 3: Fran grapples with a personal struggle involving substance abuse, which her son has managed to steer clear of thus far. However, despite still being a child, DeAndre finds himself compelled to assist in providing for his mother and younger half-brother, De’Rodd, by engaging in the sale of cocaine on the street corner. Fran’s persistent warnings to her son about the dangers of drug dealing fall on deaf ears, and DeAndre finds himself in trouble once again. In a determined effort to impart a crucial lesson, Fran decides not to intervene this time, allowing DeAndre to be transferred to the “Boy’s Village” in the hope that it serves as a powerful wake-up call.
