Futura x Nike SB Dunk Low Sneak Peek
Futura, also known as Futura 2000, is renowned for his prolific collaborations in the sneaker industry. His journey began in the early 2000s, and he has consistently delivered sought-after sneakers. Some of his creations, such as the Nike Dunk High Pro SB “FLOM,” have fetched tens of thousands of dollars on the resale market over the years.
His most recent collaboration with Nike, through the Futura Laboratories line, was in partnership with Virgil Abloh. They revamped the Dunk Low in two distinct colorways, although these sneakers never made it to traditional retail shelves. Instead, eight pairs were auctioned this year, and a size 10 in the orange colorway fetched an astounding $107,950 USD.
Now, it has been officially confirmed that Futura is preparing to release a Nike SB Dunk Low in 2024. The design surfaced discreetly back in September through the work of Singaporean contemporary artist Jahan Loh.
Since then, it has captured the attention of sneaker enthusiasts, and it’s highly anticipated. Well-known sneaker leaker Masterchefian recently reposted the photo, and Futura himself responded to comments on the post. The artist shared a key detail, confirming it as a “GENERAL RELEASE,” even though it may not be easy to acquire. He also cryptically mentioned “2024” in Roman numerals, indicating it’s set for release next year.
The shoe’s design appears to feature a combination of mesh and canvas on the upper, with classic SB Dunk Low elements like the thick tongue making a return. The base is constructed from gray mesh, the leather Swooshes are in a dark teal hue, and the overlays showcase a galaxy-like print in various shades of blue, green, and red. Futura’s signature is positioned at the lateral heel of one shoe, matching the tongue tag, while the “FL” stamp is displayed at the heel of the other. The sole unit consists of a white midsole with blue contrast stitching, sitting atop an icy translucent outsole.
