To celebrate Air Max Day 2023, Nike made a statement by bringing back the first-ever Tinker Hatfield-designed sneaker. The Air Max 1 ‘86 “Big Bubble” formed part of Nike’s original production line in 1986, ahead of the Air Max 1’s official debut.

Following the release of the original “University Red” colorway, Nike is adding to its Big Bubble lineage by introducing the “Light Silver” rendition. The Air Max 1 ‘86 is fashioned in a light grey palette, receiving diverse hues across the uppers. “Light Silver” mesh adorns the toe box underlays, tongues, and ankle areas, while “Light Pumice” suede panels hit the medials and heels with a delicate finish.

Dark grey overlays run across the mudguards with wavy forefoot outlines, accompanied by matching Swooshes that extend into the medials. Metallic tongues boast original Nike-branded tags opposite classic lettering at the rears. Finally, muted “Barely Volt” insoles insert hidden color atop white midsoles with extended Air units.

Take a closer look at the Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 “Light Silver” in the gallery below. The pair is set to arrive in the coming months via Nike and select retailers for $150 USD.
