Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher “Hugo”
Jordan Brand and Nike have introduced the latest installment of the Doernbecher Freestyle XIX collection, featuring six distinct shoes crafted by young patients from OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Notably, the Air Jordan 3 has undergone a festive makeover just in time for the holidays.
Crafted by Hugo “Juice” Covarrubias Molina, the design draws inspiration from the vibrant team colors of the Seattle Seahawks, showcasing a combination of navy blue and slime green. In a playful nod to the young designer’s nickname, slime green embellishes the ankle section, adding a personalized touch. The hang-tag, adorned with 24-carat gold plating, pays homage to Juice’s fondness for jewelry. Meanwhile, the shoe’s outsole carries a poignant message, boldly stating, “It’s okay to be different,” serving as a powerful source of inspiration for Juice, who faces the challenges of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.
The Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher “Hugo” is characterized by a navy leather upper complemented by slime green accents on the tongues, mudguard, and semi-translucent outsole. Elephant print detailing adorns the toe and heel guard, completing the unique design.
Scheduled for release on December 2, the Air Jordan 3 Doernbecher “Hugo” will be available at select retailers and online on Nike‘s official platform, priced at $210 USD.
