Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” Returning This Spring
Nike is bringing back a beloved classic silhouette for the upcoming spring season. The iconic Nike Cortez, initially introduced in 1972, made a triumphant return for its 50th anniversary in 2022. Now, one of its most coveted colorways, the “Forrest Gump” edition, originally unveiled in 2018, is set to make a comeback in 2024.
This particular iteration draws inspiration from Tom Hanks’s character in the acclaimed 1994 film “Forrest Gump,” where he receives the original Cortez as a gift from Robin Wright’s character, Jenny Curran, before embarking on his legendary run. The shoe boasts a timeless white leather base with touches of varsity red, varsity blue, and metallic silver accents. The red accents adorn the tongue branding, heel overlay, and Swoosh, while the blue strip accents the midsole. Additionally, the white Nike branding is prominently featured on the heel, complemented by silver lace dubraes. The design is completed with a waffle rubber outsole for added traction and durability.
The re-release of the Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” is scheduled for May 1, 2024, and will be available at select retailers and online via Nike’s official website, priced at $110 USD. Fans and enthusiasts alike can anticipate the return of this iconic sneaker with eager anticipation.
